The Vernal Equinox celebrates the time when day and night are equal. The evenings are visibly drawing out now. The rash of green all over the borders means that the soil has warmed up enough for the weeds to start growing like crazy. For some the vernal equinox is considered to be the first day of Spring.

Although it is possible that in the Ancient Celtic calendar this point in the turning year was the mid point of Spring. Which ever way it is for you - it is a time of renewal, time to clear out the old wood of winter and celebrate new life, new beginnings.

Perhaps at this time of year more than any other – we are reminded in no uncertain terms that the earth is alive and we are part of this magical process of re-birth.
