The Keyhole bed in August 2008, when we first cleared the area.

12TH AUGUST, 2009 – PLANT LIST.

The main focus of this area is for early to high summer interest.

Although there are two existing trees, an apple tree and an ornamental crab-apple tree, which give the area some form during the winter months, the main planting is perennial.

The bed is roughly circular with the area it takes up approximately 23 feet x 18 feet, with a path cut from one side to the center, and a smaller circle of gravel to place a large pot in.

TREES;

  • Apple tree – unknown variety. This was here when we moved in.
  • Ornamental crab-apple, unknown variety.  Also in the garden when we moved in.

BULBS;

  • Allium Sphaerocephalon (Drumstick Allium)
  • Allium Mount Everest x 1 (must get more for 2010)

SHRUBS;

  • Physocarpus Diable D’Or
  • Lavender intermedia Walbertons Silver Edge x 2

PERENNIALS;

  • Aquilegia longissima (grown from seed)
  • Astrantia major ‘Ruby Wedding’
  • Cistus purpureus Alan Fradd – (to replace Geranium Black Beauty below)
  • Dahlia ‘Bishop of Llandaff’
  • Digitalis Stewartii, started from seed 2008
  • Eryngium Varifolium
  • Echinacia:- Art’s Pride, Green Envy, Twilight, Kims Knee High, Doubledecker, White Swan (White Swan was grown from seed)
  • Geum – (Possibly Mrs Bradshaw, but this might be updated, as I grew it from seed, and cannot find the label!)
  • Hemerocallis:- Yazoo Eyecatcher, Crimson Pirate, Doodle Bug and Night Beacon.
  • Hardy Geraniums:- White Ness, Splish Splash, Vision in Pink, Brookside, St. Ola, Black beauty, (Black Beauty removed 17/08/09)
  • Hellebores – Washfields doubles – rooted cuttings (2008)
  • Malva Park Rondell
  • Oregano used as an edging (grown from seed)
  • Pinks, (grown from seed)
  • Persicaria Comptons Form
  • Potentilla Monarchs Velvet (grown from seed)
  • Roses:-  Blue Moon, Aloha, and an un-named variety
  • Single flowered white anemone, a division from a friends garden.
  • Stipia …. probably! – again a division from a friends garden
  • Silene Valley High
  • Two unknown peonys – one red and one pink
  • Veronica gentianoides x 3

ROSES;

  • Blue Moon, Hybrid Tea
  • Aloha, Modern Climber
  • Unknown rose, which was here when we arrived
