Those of you that follow me on Twitter will know where I have been today.
For those of you that read a lot of garden blogs – here is a clue
I spent a wonderful few hours visiting Elizabeth at Welsh Hills Again and could have spent days gazing at the play of light on “her” mountains
It was beautiful – even though it was not a glorious spring day with sunshine, but rather grey with the promise of rain before long.
We had a lovely time – I met some of the other residents,
The peacock was rather camera shy
The cockeral, however, knew that he was just the bees knees and very, very, handsome.
Actually all Elizabeths chooks were lovely to look at, and it was a real treat to watch them scratching around the garden.
Whenever I see chickens – I always want to have them here – but as Elizabeth so sensibly pointed out, I dont really have anywhere to keep them.
I am going to work on pursuading my neighbour to have some in her field – then I could go and visit them every day.
Elizabeth gave me a great lunch – with the most wonderful chocolate brownies for pudding
And we spent our time chatting about this and that – but as is the way of gardeners, coming back time and again to gardens and plants.
It was lovely to hear about the ethos behind Elizabeths plans for her land and her garden.
And so nice to visit it during the early days, when the trees and hedgerows that she has planted are still youngsters.
(I also got to take a piece of brownie for the car journey home!)

What lovely photos Karen! And it was great to see you and to wander around and feel that you so totally got what I am trying to do, on very little evidence on the ground so far!
Wish you lived a bit closer but looking forward to seeing you and so many other new and old friends at Malvern.

That view is heart-lurchingly beautiful, isn’t it?
First time I’ve seen a peacock seeming to seek camouflage.
The cockerel is fantastic. Not only that, a dispute about cockerel’s wattles has been washing to and fro in our household today so your photo has provided us with a fine example and point of discussion.
So glad you and Elizabeth had a special day.

Some lovely photos Karen and I’m sure you felt all the better for double helpings of Chocolate Brownie!! I too would love to have chickens here but just concerned I don’t want to take too much on and then it’s another hurdle to being able to go away at times like Chistmas! I love the idea of having a few clucking around the place and fresh eggs to collect in the mornings! Have a good week Miranda x
Wonderful pictures and that beautiful landscape.

I recognised the view! Glad you had a great day AND brownies. I too wanted badly to have chickens when I came here, then my neighbour keeps them, and bantams, so I can visit and buy eggs,AND admire the fox when he lopes through my field.
Beautiful fowl and beautiful pictures. It’s a bit unsettling to think that there are hedgerows, or at least field boundaries, older than my country. But nice.
I say Karen branching out to visit other bloggers, you never know you might find yourself leaving Wales soon! Oh yes of course you are in May – cant wait to see you

Karen, it sounds a delicious day! I know what you mean about chickens, I think about them, too. Priscilla Peahen would love Mr Peacock, he’s a beauty; but the rooster is gorgeous. Your photos area all splendid! Elizabeth’s mountain views are enviable…if I show this to Mr I, he might be convinced of a visit to Wales! gail

What a wonderful visit. And such beautiful countryside and impressive fowl! Sounds like a great day. Aren’t other garden bloggers the best? I am a big chicken fancier too but like you don’t think I have the space to keep them so that they would be safe and happy. I do love to visit others’, though – just got to see some adorable chicks yesterday!

What a magnificent cockerel!
Lovely views and great fowl indeed. Perhaps I should cook some brownies for the weekend. I would worry that they didn’t measure up though! It has been raining steadily since about 5pm. The garden will be pleased!
What a lovely landscape! Sounds like a perfect day.
Peacocks are so otherworldly. They belong in a picture book.

It’s a good job I’ve had my full ‘hormonal’ chocolate dose or I would have been just too jealous of the brownies! Elizabeth’s view is fabulous and the cockerel a handsome devil!!

Such inspiring photographs. Have much enjoyed visiting your blog. Love the peacock! Just charming!
Nice
You are getting about, I cant walk on sunday. But please visit me when your passing and dont forget the last brownie
Oh that view is awesome! I love peacocks, but they always sound like they are saying “help, help” to me. And the rooster is so very handsome. Do you think he struck that pose just for the photo? A couple in our neighbourhood have a variety of gorgeous chickens and I often find myself walking in that direction just to go and see them.

Hello from Arizona.
Lovely blog and websites – I just found you today. Unfortunately for me many of your pictures load only part of the way – not sure why this is happening?

Did she say cocks and chocs?
What a sexy rooster! Brownies, plus chickens and a peacock and that view over the brow of a hill… what’s not to love?
