We have had wonderful weather here in Wales. Well, wonderful for me, no wind, no rain and lots of sunshine during the day.
Less wonderful for the plants in the garden as until recently we have had freezing night-time temperatures.
This combined with high daytime temperature and no rain for a month has confused the garden.
Generally things are about 4 – 6 weeks behind last year, (and the year before).
One of the loveliest plants has been the iris “Katherine Hodgkin”, which is a new arrival in the garden this year.
My favourite flowers the hellebore are only just getting into their stride.
And even the dreaded forsythia is not showing any colour yet.

And click on them to see a larger view.
Despite the flowers in the Artists Garden being a little slow this year.
The cold winter has had no effect whatsoever on the dandelions, who have started to bloom …. prolifically.

I chuckled when I passed my mouse over the dandelions. (Dandy-lions, they are!)
Thank you for the glimpse of your gardens. Have a great day!

Beautiful blooms, Karen. I love the no-name one especially.
The photos are so lovely. And how did you make even the dandelion look so pretty and happy and sunny? What a shot!

I love the detail photo of the iris. Few plant seem so rich in the ways you can view them!

Ooh you’ve got lots. I’m still on snowdrops, crocus, primroses, hellebores and the first camellia. I’ll go and check on my rosemary, but cetainly no daffs, pulmonaria or bergenia yet. Love your Iris.
I am so glad that spring is finally showing up for you, Karen. It is still playing peek a boo here. That iris is at the top of my want list, what coloration it has, and the early bloom is a bonus. May the sun shine in the daytime and night rains water the earth for you.

I do like your Iris – I am developing quite a thing for them, just need to get them to flower again next year

I wandered here from GBBD at May Dreams Gardens – your post was a few above mine. It looks like you are way ahead of us here in Maryland – the daffodils are just poking their leaves up. All I have blooming is Iris reticulata ‘Clairette,’ but that is enough. I really enjoyed your flowers and all you have blooming. Your photos are especially lovely – thanks for sharing them!

I know you have thoroughly enjoyed and appreciated the outstanding weather. Your winters are tough and what a delight it must be to have no rain for a month. The blooms are splendid, I am especially charmed by pulmonaria~don’t you love the bluish/pinkish flowers. I forgot you had forsythia…soon it will be blooming here and Mr I will once again fall in love with Hedge’s beauty! Sigh! …gail

As soon as I saw your post this morning I jumped up and took photos for GBBD too. What a great idea and fun too. Your photos are wonderful and I really enjoyed last years post as well, glad you linked that. We have almost all the same climate here in Victoria BC Canada, but no irises yet in my garden.

Karen what a beautiful bunch of blooms. Dandelions are so pretty. If we could just keep them in one place

All I have in my garden at the moment are helibores and crocus. Even the dandilions have abandoned me! Lovely selection you have there.
You have much more than I do in bloom. still with primroses and snowdrops and the odd hellebore here, irises in pots but no daffs or pulmonaria yet. Not long though!

That iris is so lovely in the upper left corner.
We’re behind, too, and it’s caused major crop damage. We might be getting down to freezing again tonight — which is annoying, and it does confuse the poor plants. Here’s hoping you’ll have more blooms — and maybe less dandelions — very soon!

It’s a delight to let one’s eye wander up and down your wall of blooms.

A lovely range of flowers, Karen. It’s great to see a primrose in there, and the dandelion is a real shot of bright colour

Brilliant to hear you’ve had a bit of a break in the weather, Karen! Love the dsiplay format for your flowers… very nice as are the flowers.
Can’t believe you’ve a dandelion in flower already! We’ve just odd leaves coming up. I let them grow but pull off any flower buds if I see them in time. The guinea pigs love the leaves

Ive just walked around my garden in the rain and I have primroses, crocus, snowdrops ,daffs. And the beautiful tulips – oops they are on the kitchen table in a vase left over from mothers day!! They must have come out of somebodys garden. Sorry forgot the one hellebore thats survived also!!
Now my ‘Katharine Hodgkin’ decided to open the day after I had posted my GBBD post – what a prima donna but she is a beauty
It has been dry in this part of the world too – could really do with some rain but preferably whilst we are asleep.
