…. To get the photograph!
So happy to-day.
My second double hellebore opened
Isn’t she beautiful.
Yes, I had to lie on the ground again.
But fortunately it was another beautiful, if somewhat chilly day.

Hm, did you lie down in the dirt? I’ve done that. Bum in the air? Ditto. Hold the flower with your toes? Well, maybe I should try it. Great shot however it came to be.

What a lovely hellebore but it is so wet here in Surrey I won’t be lying down in the garden yet awhile.

Great pic, well worth the acrobatics.
I’d like to see a pic of you taking the pic!

And just to make you all jealous, she is even more beautiful in the flesh. Just how did you get that shot? She is only a few inches off the ground. Either Shedman dug you a hole to lie in or you are more of a contortionist than I thought:-}
I am glad to see you are not lying down on the job, lol.
Stunning photo!

To get the best smile from flowers is to talk, joke, play and be with them… What’s better than lying on the ground with them … ~bangchik
Now that’s a beauty Karen. Most of my hellebores are at the almost but not quite stage. I am checking them every day but they have not obliged to date.

Lovely! But I can see this pretty pink hellebore is laughing a little…. you must have amused her with your antics. She’s clearly holding back the chuckles.

It’s a lovely hellebore…I often use yoga mats to get a good shot. Something comfy to lie on. Goodness, I know I said something really clever when I left a message earlier! This is my second try…I see that your comment luv doesn’t register my new post either. gail

I have to say, some of my best photographs ever came from lying on the ground. My favorite shot of a dandelion came when my chin was literally touching dirt. I say bravo for being brave enough to do what it takes to capture that beauty! And she is lovely, the belle of the winter ball for sure, even if she plays hard to get. Just imagine if you never saw that loveliness by refusing to see it from other than a comfortable, standing height…

Thanks for all the great comments – they are much appreciated.
I think that my neighbours are used to see me in the garden, camera in hand lying around on the ground or in the middle of undergrowth and fortunately it has not occurred to shedman to photograph me when I am in these ungainly positions.

The beautiful hellebore is definitely worth the effort. Lying on the ground is not so bad, it is the trying to get up again that is difficult!

Beautiful double hellebore well done Karen. But chilly is not the word for it. Im ****** freezing.
LOL I agree, the things we do
I am sure my neighbours think I am very strange. Beautiful hellobore though. Laying on the ground is often worth the effort.
Bet you are happy with a beautiful flower like that.
I’m happy too because I can access Blogger again. Don’t know why it stopped. Don’t know why it started again!

Another gorgeous photo and worth lying on the ground for too! I notice you refer to your flowers as females too. I have been known to tell the “girls” or flowers how beautiful they are when I’m out in the garden. So yes, she is most beautiful!

Don’t worry. I do that, too.
It’s worth it! Your hellebore is a beauty!

Once went to a night flowering cactus party.
The hostess later admitted that after we had all left she had lain down underneath the flower to absorb all its ‘rays of energy and resonance’!
I am wondering whether your Hellebore bloom imparted anything?
Best Wishes
Robert
She is so beautiful! I am so glad you decided to lay on the ground and snap her photo. Now we all get to enjoy her.
What a lovely picture and such dedication. Keep up the good work

What a gorgeous Hellebore. The colour is beautiful. I’m glad you did some gymnastics to take the picture.
Beautiful flower, Karen. well worth the mud and cold! There’s so much to see in the flower of a hellebore

What an outstanding hellebore. Well, well worth the effort and possible discomfort to take the picture.

Lovely photo! Sometimes it takes a bit more effort to get a good photo. I know as I shoot mostly butterflies. Just love hellebores, I have some on my blog this week as well.

I once had a neighbor who was in her 80’s. We would look out the window and my husband would say,”Ruth’s lying down in the garden again.” She would lie down on her side to weed… when she could no longer bend down. She gardened until the day she died.
What a beauty you have there…well worth the discomfort.

How beautiful the hellebore is, well worth lying down to see, but I hope you had a mat to lie on!
That is just beautiful. Most of my hellebores are still tantalising fat buds.
What a beauty-all the best views are at ground level!

Karen,
You have such a beautiful collection of Hellebores. This new double is lovely. I remember your images from last year, a variety of Hellebores floating in water… they were quite a sight, and a wonderful way to appreciate them up close or study their differences. Though there is something special about these last days of winter, and having the opportunity to once again get our hands dirty as we admire these early bloomers.
I’d be happy for that hellebore to be in one of my borders. x

Thanks all for the great comments – The rest of the hellebores in the garden are just starting to fatten up – so by this time next month – you may well be fed up of my hellebores, they are just one of my favorite plants.
I suspect that I will by lying on the ground to photograph them until the day I cannot get down there!
K
Hellebores are one of my favorites too Karen. I love how we must get down and personal with them in order to take their portraits! Your bloom and photograph are gorgeous! Carol
