  • Wrong kind of Snow? January 14, 2010
Remember in 1991 when we had the wrong kind of snow for British Rail to keep the tracks clear, well I have the wrong kind of images for the image editing workshop! No seriously, amongst my 1,000’s of images - I never seem to have taken photos of interesting doorways, signs, vintage writing or wonderful faces.  [...] […]
  • Clear March Skies March 9, 2010
The weather here continues to be amazing. With glorious days, lots of sunshine (no coats needed). And clear, clear sky – meaning the night-time temperatures drop to about -7c The plants are confused – but I’m happy […]

Oh No He Didn’t

rabbit

Oh Yes He Did!

Following on from the saga of the baby rabbit in Mrs Grumpy’s Magical Kitchen Garden

Baby Rabbit has now found a new way of getting into my vegetable garden,

This involves climbing up onto the roof of my stone outbuilding.

(How?)

Fortunately, as yet, he has not discovered a way to climb down on my side of the building and into

the kitchen garden.

Here he is being taken away by one of the “fair maidens”,

After posing for his picture.

I am cross, although it is hard to remain cross when you look at that little face …

No actually I am still cross.

I have visitors arriving tonight – so I will catch up with you all next week.

Have a great weekend.

  • The offer of the cat still stands – reasonable rates and cheaper by the week :-)

easygardener’s last blog post..Perhaps a ladder would help!

  • He’s quite cute though…Ah…Baby Peter rabbit.

  • You are not a happy bunny then Karen :) Have a good weekend.

Shedmans chat about keeping wild animals didn’t have the desired affect then. You can always use my cat. A lot closer than easygardeners. I will put the oven on low in preperation.
Hope you and A have a good few days. It looks like the rain might hold off a bit anyway.

  • I thought of Peter Rabbit this morning as I hoed many weeds in front of the house! Scritch. Scratch. But I didn’t know Peter could climb onto roofs! (He’s pretty tame, too. That could be a problem!)

  • Mm… interesting! Today I spotted a squirrels in the veggie garden of a historic house… both crawled under fruit nets… one ran away with strawberries and the other was considering black currants! Strange but true… are you sure your rabbit is the true suspect? Enjoy your weekend :-D

    Shirl’s last blog post..A sorry sight…

  • I’ve missed all the excitement being away without a computer! Would you like a coyote or two? They deter the rabbits very nicely! gail

  • Thanks for the dark humor of the comic, but this really isn’t funny. It’s bad enough to have to deal with wild creatures, but when the neighbors start keeping them as pets… How handy are you & Shedman? You could build the fair maidens a very secure rabbit hutch for the nasty, not at all cute, little beastie. It would make for better neighbor relations than putting him in the cook pot or baking him in a pie, the fate of Peter Rabbit’s father.

  • Really sorry – it’s always hard when something gets in to ruin all the hard work you put in in the garden – our neighbours cows got into our woodland a couple of months ago and got into the side garden enjoying mouthfuls of all the new Crocosmia shoots – sadly these are all things that just happen. Hope the naughty bunny didn’t do too much damage – must admit I do have a soft spot for bunnies as used to breed them when I was younger but they don’t take long to cause havoc in a veg garden! Enjoy your visitors… and love the photo of your Dahlia bud plus the sweet peas – gorgeous! Miranda

  • Darn it, but he’s so cute!! Big innocent eyes and a little twitchy nose – but he’s evil too and don’t you forget it! Those veggies are yours.

  • I could easily fall in love with that rabbit.

  • A kitty a day keeps the bunny away…well, at least little bunnies. I hope the bunny stays home where he belongs, for the sake of your garden! He is pretty cute, though, isn’t he?? :) ~~Rhonda

  • hmmm, I would like a “fair maiden” to gather up the ground hog that is living close to my garden, but for some blessed reason it is not doing utter destruction. wonderful photo!

  • I’ve just been catching up with your blog, so going back a few posts …

… I do love your poppy photos, especially the “summertime” one! – they’re my favourite flowers, and they look so fabulous when wet.

The pond is looking good too – I like the new stone edging.

The comic strip about the bunny made me laugh :-D – I do hope you don’t make it into stew, it’s sooo cute (not sure I’d think it quite so cute if it were eating my carrots though ;) )

  • Awww, did the ickle fluffy wuffy bunny nibble your veggy weggies?
Sorry, but I’m pathetic in the face of this kind of cuteness… (unlike some of your hard-nosed commenters – that McGregor girl’s as bad as her father)

  • Peta Stockdale

Forget Peter Rabbit ; just get rid of the damn things !!!!!!!! They have just eaten Brians first rose ; after all that hard work !

  • Perhaps it hops on your roof? Afterall it’s got hoppy legs! Bunnies, bunnies, it must be bunnies!!! That song (from Buffy the Vampire Slayer) popped right into my head when I read your post. Fun song and very much to the point here, do you know it at all?

Thank you all for your great comments.
I suspect the bunny saga will rumble around for a little while yet –
Apologies for not responding to you all individually – but time has run away from me, I will be popping along to “your place” during the week.
As always – I so appreciate you taking the time to leave comments.
